Coen — the Dawnwalker

You play Coen, a Dawnwalker: human by day, vampire by night. The duality is the skeleton of the game — the day gives you Witchcraft and the everyday business of a plague-ridden valley, while the night gives you Vampirism, a more aggressive form, and Blood Hunger, the blood-craving pressure that runs through every vampire night.

What anchors Coen’s story

Two things define Coen’s story beyond the combat:

  • His family, whose outcome the 30-day clock constrains — the more days you spend, the fewer family-related endings stay open. You meet Esme (his mother) and Pieter (his father) in the prologue.
  • His tied relationship to Brencis, which the finale resolves.

Everything else — the vassals, the rebellion, the dream tower — is the war he is standing in the middle of. The key choice timeline is the companion reference for which of those choices actually move your ending.

Where he leads

Coen is the through-line of the whole run: the vassals (Ambrus, Bakir, Xanthe), the two act-1 ally routes of Lacra and Crake, and the final confrontation with Brencis all orbit the protagonist. For the full cast, see the key characters compendium.

Frequently asked questions

Who do I play as in The Blood of Dawnwalker?

Coen, the Dawnwalker — human by day, vampire by night. The day gives you Witchcraft and the everyday business of a plague-ridden valley; the night gives you Vampirism, a more aggressive form, and Blood Hunger, the blood-craving pressure that runs through every vampire night.

Does how I play Coen change the ending?

The duality is the skeleton of the game — each form has its own toolkit, and your skill trees decide which half of the day your build serves. The ending itself, though, is set by the choices you make across the 30 days, not by the combat.
